Accessible Television
Television has long been used as a learning tool, and DCMP helps make television programs accessible to students who are deaf or blind. The U.S. Department of Education provides funding for DCMP and other Television Access grantees to add audio description to broadcast educational and informational (E/I) content. Additionally, content partners provide for DCMP's distribution of content to educators of young people with disabilities.
By adding accessibility features like description and captions to videos, television producers and distributors are increasing the educational value of their programs and helping to build a level playing field for children who are deaf or blind. More and more producers of educational programs are joining us to bring high quality educational content to children who need it most.
