Covers events between 1854-1917: open trade with Japan; the purchase of Alaska; the annexation of Hawaii; the Spanish-American War in 1898; the Open Door Policy toward China; the Boxer Rebellion in 1901; and the foreign policies of Roosevelt, Taft, and Wilson.
