Kwanzaa, a Swahili word meaning "harvest" or "first fruits," celebrates traditions and cultures of African Americans. Begun in 1966 to help foster a sense of community, it is celebrated from December 26 to January 1. Emphasizes Kwanzaa is not a religious holiday.
