Deaf girls taught NBA legend Mike “Stinger” Glenn, a young hearing boy, to play basketball. Glenn grew up in the south during segregation, and also learned profound skills for life from the most unlikely heroes during that time period: deaf children and his father-teacher. The Spirit of Love was born in ten-year-old Glenn as he stepped onto the basketball court of the Georgia School for the Deaf, where his father was coach. Glenn plays himself in this film that was inspired by his real life basketball camps for deaf and hard of hearing kids. A group of misfit teens, some hearing and some deaf, arrive at the 33rd Annual Basketball Camp, where girls will be allowed to attend for the first time. Some come with hopes of hoop dreams, and others are just trying to survive the tumultuous teen years. Not only do they learn life lessons through the game of basketball, but they soon learn what it means to “Soar like an Eagle”.
